Sizing Bath Vanities

Small bathrooms look best with small bath vanities and large bathrooms look best with large vanities. Seems logical right? While is harder to fit a gigantic double vanity into a very small room, with larger bathrooms the rules were meant to be broken, especially when considering modern bath vanities. Achieve a striking look in your bathroom by selecting one or two vanities under 30 inches wide and use the rest of the space as you desire.

Tips for Small Bath Vanities in Large Spaces

You want your smaller vanity to be the focal point of a well appointed bathroom, but you don’t want it to look lonely. Here are a few tips to ensure that you get the effect you’re looking for:

• Use painters tape to mark out the area your vanity will use before you buy. Mark the location and size of other fixtures if you are completely remodeling your bathroom. By giving yourself a visual of how your current or new fixtures will look in relation to your vanity, you can make sure that you will not be surprised or disappointed when everything is installed.

• Install a vanity mirror that is slightly larger than your new vanity. Unless you want the institutional look, a very large mirror will make your vanity look diminutive, but a mirror that is slightly larger will still take advantage of the space and complement the vanity.

• Location, location, location. Give yourself a few options for arrangement. Take into account what will be the easiest to install and what will look the best. Where you place your vanity will make all the difference as to whether it looks awkward or edgy.

• A smaller vanity will have less counter space. Take this into consideration when you plan your bathroom. It could mean that you can now install shelving. Remember, because you have chosen a creative vanity arrangement, you have license to be creative with the rest of the bathroom. Have fun finding creative ways to add storage and bring balance to your bathroom.

You may play around with the idea of installing a small vanity in a large bathroom and decide that a larger double bathroom vanity will look better in your home. Either way, a well placed, charming bathroom vanity will be a lovely focal point of your home for years to come.
