How to Install Your Bathroom Vanity

You’ve made the leap. You’re going to remodel your bathroom, all by yourself. With no contractor to save the day, you’re going to brave the wilds of the hardware store and Vanities123.com and come away with a beautiful bathroom. Vanities123.com has the instructions to get you started installing your brand new bathroom vanity.

Measure Your Space

This step should actually be completed before you order your bathroom vanity. There is nothing worse than having your brand new vanity arrive only to have to return because it’s too large or small for the area you want it in. Remember, one of the reasons you are remodeling yourself is so that you have control over your project. Careful measurement will ensure that your vision for your bathroom comes out perfectly. You may want to try marking out the dimensions of your new vanity and other fixtures to get an idea of how each will take up space relative to one another.

Remove Your Current Bathroom Vanity

The most important part of this step is to research proper techniques and tools to remove your existing fixtures to install your new ones. This will be, by far, the least glamorous part of the job, but you will feel very accomplished when you are done.

General rules include turning off the water source for the sink and placing an adequate container underneath the drain for the residual water. Disconnect the plumbing underneath the sink and remove the countertop. Then detach the cabinet from the wall.

Put in Your New Bathroom Vanity

If your new vanity takes up less room or covers less of your wall than your previous vanity, now is the time to patch and repaint your bathroom wall. Make sure that everything is removed if you are replacing other parts of your bathroom, so that only have to paint once.

Attach your new vanity to studs in the wall. Add the sink and fixtures according to your research and the manufacturer’s directions. Finally, connect the plumbing. Once the plumbing is connected, check for leaks before turning your water back on. You may want to call in a professional plumber to have them double check your work. Once you are certain everything is in good shape, you should have a beautiful, fully functioning bathroom vanity.

Remember, installing a bathroom vanity is not very difficult, but if you are not much of a do-it-yourself person or are nervous at all, it is best to seek a professional contractor or plumber to install your vanity for you.
